Sea Doo

June 30th, 2007 | Category: Uncategorized

Just got back from the lake… The rope swing was gone, but two jet ski’s, a boat, and a dog were there to welcome us.

I don’t have a ton of experience on the jet ski; however, it didn’t take long. I rode Devin and London around a few times. Much fun.

Next, all the guys started riding. We had a blast basically doing our best to do whatever necessary to throw the person riding in the back into the water.

I loved it! I was in the water as much as I was riding across it - but it was awesome. We did manage to flip the actual SeaDoo twice almost killing my face in the process. Might have to do that again tomorrow.

Thanks Shea and Amber. You guys are awesome….and dangerous.

Lake Allatoona

June 30th, 2007 | Category: Uncategorized

Things are really starting to come together at the house. It’s looking more like a living space and less like a cardboard explosion.

We are headed out today to hang out at the lake with some friends that just moved here from VA. They have a huge rope swing (for jumping into the water) that could possibly lead to many injuries, but it should be a ton of fun.

Random moving lists…

June 29th, 2007 | Category: Random

Couple of thoughts about moving to Georgia…

1. I HATE moving!
2. I think it should be a rule that when you move from one house the other - all furniture and boxes should have to stay. Just start from scratch.
3. Thank God my neighborhood (Liberty Square) is one of the few in the area that are actually flat. Running is much more convenient that way…
4. I can’t wait til Monday - when things will really get rolling with Freedom.
5. I closed on two houses yesterday simultaneously.
6. The pool in the neighborhood requires you to have a key to get in and a key to get out. Hope I never have to leave in a hurry.
7. If I don’t get a newer car - I am pretty sure that I will be the topic of conversation at the next Homeowners Assoc. Meeting.
8. I am really going to miss Memphis, but I LOVE the ATL!
9. Acworth GA makes me very happy!
10. I hate Remix Friday nights on the radio…

Finally

June 29th, 2007 | Category: Uncategorized

We are officially in Acworth! We moved in yesterday and today we will continue the neverending process of unloading boxes.
After the past two days - I am pretty sure that every time I see a box I will immediately begin convulsing uncontrollably.

The DirecTV guy just got here and I am up and running! This takes the edge off the pain just a little.

More to come…

Were back…

June 27th, 2007 | Category: Uncategorized

Just got back in Atlanta from a whirlwind trip to Memphis. Many funny things to write about in the next day or so….

We officially move into the new house tomorrow morning. I can’t wait to get everything unloaded and to get things rolling in Acworth. Living out of boxes is a pain, but it is a pain that should end tomorrow!

Heading back

June 26th, 2007 | Category: Random

Todd, Mark, Jason, and I are all piling into a truck to head into Memphis for one more day.

They are loading the truck tomorrow morning and then we will head back to the ATL. Should be a quick but fun trip. Many interesting things to blog about after this I am sure…

Grace

June 25th, 2007 | Category: Uncategorized

Grace is such a difficult concept to wrap your mind around. Not sure if you are like me, but a lot of times I find myself relying on my own effort, etc. in order to determine my “closeness” to God. When I am doing well - God is pleased. When I am struggling - God is ticked and wants to have nothing to do with me.

What a tragic concept. In those moments where things are going terribly, I am not experiencing a fall FROM grace as much as a fall TO grace. His Grace is sufficient and His power is made perfect in your weakness!

In the times when you feel the furthest away - He is right there. He never leaves and never abandons. He is big enough to use “ugly things” to accomplish an incredible purpose.

“What once was hurt
What once was friction
What left a mark
No longer stings
Because grace makes beauty
Out of ugly things”

Memphis To Do

June 24th, 2007 | Category: Uncategorized

These are in no particular order…

1. Peabody Rooftop Party - Very interesting place to watch people and check out whatever band happens to be playin that night. The people aren’t quite as young as you might expect.

2. BigFoot Lodge - Can’t get much better than this. Shawn has done a great job with this place - my favorite restaurant downtown.

3. Mississippi River - There are several cool parks to hang out in right off Riverside Dr. If you go after dark bring some freakin mosquito repellent.

4. Spaghetti Warehouse - Tons of food for a great price. In a weird location kind of out of the way, but it’s worth checking out.

5. Peabody Rooftop (Not during the rooftop party) - Make sure you go after dark. Not many people up there and you can see the entire city.

6. Beale Street. A little bit of everything…and I do mean everything.

7. Peabody Parking Garage Rooftop - Apparantly I love to hang out on the roof. Cool place to take pictures.

8. Redbirds - AAA team for the Cardinals (Redbirds)

9. Grizzlies - Fun atmosphere even though they are winless in the NBA playoffs team (Grizzlies). The Grizzlies made my list because I got to run in a hamster ball during the last game we went to.

Back in the ATL

June 23rd, 2007 | Category: Uncategorized

I made it back to Atlanta this afternoon just before 12. Tried to go to sleep around 2:30 this morning, didn’t do such a good job at it, so I just got up at 4:15 to load the car and pull out of Memphis right at 5 AM.

I survived on energy drinks and by listening to the Goo Goo Dolls, Dave Ramsey, and Erwin McManus at deafening levels.

Side Note: I killed 7 mosquitos in my car while I was driving, which were left over from the downtown experience last night. That is not supposed to happen…

and still more boxes…

June 22nd, 2007 | Category: Uncategorized

Moving day is getting here quick! Devin and the girls actually leave today for the last time…

I will head to Atlanta for a few days beginning tomorrow before I come back on Tuesday to load the truck, etc.

Hectic times for sure! There are a ton of things/people I am going to miss about Memphis/Millington TN!

I need to do a top 10 list of cool (and different) things to do in the Memphis area…I assure you that it will be unlike any list you would ever find on ANY search engine.
