Volunteers

March 30th, 2008 | Category: Uncategorized

It has been a crazy few weeks for our volunteers and they have done a fantastic job!

A national collegiate event took place on the campus of our school this weekend. As a result, there was a LOT of extra set-up, tear down, etc.  When you combine that with the Easter After Party - it provided for a busy, eventful, and great day…

A huge thank you goes out to all our volunteers! Whether you are setting up sound, teaching kids, greeting in the parking lot, or changing diapers - you have a direct effect on the lives that are changed every week.  You are modeling a culture of sacrifice and gratitude. Thank You!

Easter After Party

March 28th, 2008 | Category: Uncategorized

The Easter After Party will happen right after the 11:00 am worship experience on Sunday.  Can’t make the service? No worries - just come to the party anyway!

Don’t let the cold and rain keep you away - because we are moving that thing INDOORS!

Free huge inflatable games, free food, and a few free surprises as well.  It’s going to be a blast!

Evaluate

March 28th, 2008 | Category: Uncategorized

Honest evaluation is an essential ingredient of improvement.

I am passionate about moving forward.  For that reason, I crave honest input from those who are ahead of me.  Everyone needs it!  There is not a person alive today who has arrived.  Actually, I have found that those who seem to have it all together - feel that they have the furthest to go!

As a result, I have several “improvement projects” taking place in my life…  What about you?

Soup

March 27th, 2008 | Category: Uncategorized

I think I have bought soup at a restaurant approximately 4 times in my entire life.  Simple enough - I just never order it because when I am done, I am more hungry than when I started….

That is, until they started making the bowl out of bread.  I know that isn’t new; however, it has revolutionized my view of all things soup.  Hunger is no longer an obstacle!  If after eating my soup I am still hungry - I can turn my attention to the eating of the bowl.  Forget Tivo - that is a life-changing invention!

Blog Etiquette

March 26th, 2008 | Category: Uncategorized

The following are a few blog rules we have embraced at Freedom.  Here they are…

  1. We don’t criticize people/churches/organizations/etc.  Ephesians 4:29 guides the conversation and our blogs should function as a tool and not as a weapon.  :)
  2. We don’t react if criticized. Matthew 18:15-20 spells this out.  There are people who pretend to be pious - but totally disregard this verse.  I don’t want to be guilty of this.  Pastors Perry Noble and Johnny Hunt have taught us to only respond to criticism from those who love Jesus and love us.  If the criticism is done in a public forum - that person probably doesn’t love either.
  3.  We dont’ make a habit of posting attendance figures from weekly services.  Nothing wrong with doing that and we might do it on special days - but it will be the exception and not the norm.
  4. We honor Christ and those we are writing about.  Period.

Groundbreaking? No.  Beneficial? Yes.

Urgent and Tenacious

March 25th, 2008 | Category: Uncategorized

When I think about prayer a lot of different things come to mind.  Some that are good and some I wouldn’t really want to admit.  This has undergone a lot of changes over the past couple of years.

Lately, I am learning the value of urgency and tenacity in the area of prayer.  Those words have been characteristic of many areas of my life - but definitely not in the that area.  That being said, I am passionate about seeing this change - and I will pursue that end with urgency and tenacity :)
