Safe Eyes

Category: Uncategorized

I have had an internet filter on my computer for the past couple of years. Here’s why…

There are a LOT of crazy sites out there and I am just one click away. Well I WAS one click away.  Now it would be way more difficult and whole lot more awkward (all computer activity gets sent to an accountability partner) if I ever chose to look at something stupid.

There are a few people who are not the biggest fans of Freedom Church and/or J.R. Lee.  Once something is written - as much as I don’t want to - I tend to go back to their blog to see what was said.  With Safe Eyes, I can “ban” access to their site and I couldn’t read it even if I wanted to.  :)

I want to protect myself - from myself.  Sometimes I am my own greatest enemy.  As a result, I safeguard as many things as possible. Do you use anything like this?  If so, which program do you use?

We use Safe Eyes in our home. I wouldn’t even think of letting my kids online without it.

Safe Eyes! It stinks sometimes because someone says go watch this video but the video is not on a clean site and you know what happens their. It is a really good program and it is for the Best!

Have you heard of Covenant Eyes monitoring and filtering programs? It is a unique program on the market because it gives the user flexibility to filter or simply monitor the Internet or both. A good filtering program is very helpful for children and families, but a good monitoring program is great for adults and children alike who want to be accountable to others about where they go online.

Covenant Eyes monitoring program simply tracks (without blocking) everywhere someone goes online. Then each part of each webpage is rated and scored for its content (scores are based on obscene or pornographic material). Users choose 2 or 3 people that they want to receive a detailed “accountability report” of all their online activity (emails to them or available to see online 24/7). What this does is it allows complete freedom to the person using the Internet, but it takes away the anonymity of online activity; people are more likely to exorcise self-control when they know that others will be reviewing their whereabouts online.

Covenant Eyes also has a promotional code you can use to get a free month to try out their accountability service. Go to www.covenanteyes.com and enter promocode ‘onefree’ to receive a free 30 day trial of the program.

Michael - I think Ron works for SafeEyes and obviously Luke is the Covenant Eyes guy… They should hook you up!

Matt - I think there’s some way to allow access to certain YouTube sites…especially since we have one - I think!

Luke - You should hook our staff up for free just for allowing your comment/promotional piece to stay up on the blog :)

Ron - We should get together one day for lunch. I think your offices are right around the corner from ours.

J.R. - I’ve seen your church’s signs around town. You can’t be far away at all. Let me know when you’re free for lunch, and I’ll try to get a group together.

We know where to find the good food around town. :)

We have tried K9 at www.k9webprotection.com. They have a Mac beta version. It worked very well until I had some issues with comcast webmail. It could have been an isolated issue because everything else worked great. Its worth a try if you have PCs and Macs.
